5 Things That Made Me Laugh Today

It rained pretty much all day today... which ruined our swimming plans.  It would have been easy for it to have been a frustrating day all locked up inside, but several things happened that made me laugh out loud...

1. Hearing Reese say,  "Daddy, your seellee (silly)" as he danced around the house singing an old hymn in his Elvis impersonator voice.  This is her new thing... and she says it unprompted and always at the appropriate time.

2. Noticing that someone thought the baby needed her shades for nap time.

3. Hearing Reese say, "I take a piture" as she held her flip flop up to her eye and pretended to photograph Tucker on his horse.  Then they switched places and Tucker took one of her.  Oh how I love to see them play together.

4. Hearing Tucker say, "No Daddy, No Daddy" when Chris grabbed and kissed me today. He's so protective.  Anytime Chris is playful or teases me, Tucker steps in and tells him "No, Daddy" in his mean voice.  At least I know my boy will always be there to protect me.

5.  And finally, the condition of my living room after a whole day at home.  And yes... those are Chris' boots and jeans in the middle of the room. He's as bad as the kids sometimes.  This may be one of the reasons I'm not a stay-at-home mom.  OCD Angi couldn't handle this all the time.

I hope you found things to laugh about today.

Horrible Name for a Lake

We had our annual Tims/Olson Family Reunion last week at Lake Tenkiller in Oklahoma.  Don't you think that's a horrible name for a lake? It totally sounds like a lake that might play host to a Friday the 13th movie or something.  Anyway, it was a smaller group this year and we decided we needed another day or two next year, but we still had a great time.

Thanks to Lisa and Chris for putting it together this year!  Stay tuned for more pics...

Tims Twins plus Emmy

I'm not sure I've mentioned this before but there are two sets of Tims Twins in our family. Chris' brother Mike has a set of twins almost exactly one year older than Reese and Tucker.  He also has another baby about a year younger than Reese and Tucker.  Needless to say, things can be pretty hectic when we're all together.  They came in town for the birthday party last weekend and the kids had a blast getting to play together...

We fed the ducks, played at the park and had a crazy time on the trampoline...

They also got to spend some time with their Grammy and Grandpa. Unfortunately, they don't get to see them nearly enough.

The trampoline was a big hit.  The kids were all over the place which meant the adults were all over the place.  Five toddlers on a trampoline can make people pretty nervous.  The kids had a blast though.

I'm thinking these kids are going to get into all kinds of trouble together as they grow up.

Splish Splash Birthday Bash

Happy 2nd Birthday Reese & Tucker!

We celebrated the kids' 2nd birthday last weekend.  I still can't believe it's been 2 years since we were taking care of them in the NICU anticipating the day they would finally get to come home.

Man, have they come a long way in 2 years.  I hardly recognize them in their new born pictures.  As much as I miss being able to hold and rock them whenever I want, I do love that they sleep 12 hours a night now!

Well, we had our 2nd annual swim party at Grandma and Grandpa's house and the whole family was able to be there this year.  The kids had fun swimming, jumping on the trampoline, going for wagon and four-wheeler rides, and stuffing their faces....

I think the grown ups had a little fun too.

Big Boy Cut

Tucker had his first real haircut today... on his second birthday!  I've just been sort of trimming it now for months, but it's been looking pretty crazy lately.  It was time for a big boy cut...

He was really cooperative and had fun driving the taxi and watching Bob the Builder while she worked.

We went short for the summer with some spike on the top... too cute. He looks like such a big boy now.
Slow down... you're growing up way too fast!  That's right, the kids are 2 years old today.  Stay tuned for pictures from their birthday party later this week.

Blame it on the Heat

So, I should have posted this the other night when it happened, but I was obviously too tired...

I took the kids to Caden's baseball game on Tuesday night.  They had a blast and it was great to finally get to see Caden play, but it was also sort of a whippin' for me.  Trying to corral two toddlers in the smoldering heat was completely exhausting.  I took their chairs and snacks thinking they would just sit quietly and watch the game... good one.  They were everywhere, which meant I had to be everywhere.  The game when into extra innings and we were all pooped by the time we got home and finished with baths.  I was so exhausted and delirious, that I did this...

Yep, that's Tucker wearing Reese's PJ's.  I had the boy completely dressed before I realized what I did.  I'm sure he'll appreciate this picture later in life.

Play-Doh to the Rescue

It was too hot to play outside yesterday and I was too lazy to take everyone to the pool, so it was a very long day.  The kids were like caged animals. I'm pretty sure Reese asked to go outside 15 times. And by 4:00 I was on the verge of a breakdown... the crying, the fighting, the whining, oh the misery. Please tell me this isn't what I have to look forward to this summer.

I finally gave in and busted out the Play-Doh... something I've been trying to put off for a very long time.  What a mess... but I didn't even care.  Anything for a few minutes of peace and quiet....

Thank you Play-Doh.  You saved my sanity.

WWF

Our Friday night entertainment has sure changed since we had kids...

Surprisingly, Reese can hold her own.  They've really been playing well together lately... and it's fun to catch them on video when they don't know we're watching.

Swimmin' With My Clothes On

Sooner or later it was bound to happen... and tonight it did.  I went swimmin' with my clothes on.  We went to my parents house for dinner and we didn't plan on swimming.  Well, at least I didn't plan on it.  After playing outside for a while, Reese and Tucker decided to sit on the edge and put their feet in.  They kicked and laughed and were drenched within minutes.  Then all of a sudden, Tucker plunged himself into the pool.  I don't think anyone has ever seen me move so fast. I jumped in after him... in my dress and everything.  I'm not sure if I should be more freaked that he just jumped in, or that he didn't seemed to be phased by it at all... he didn't cry or panic.  He just kicked his little feet and fought to get to the edge.  From now on, he'll be wearing floaties within 50 feet of the pool.  I'm telling you... this guy is fearless and it scares me to death.

Here's my little water baby swimmin' at just 6 weeks old.  We couldn't even find trunks big enough for him.
It's hard to believe it's been almost 2 years since this picture was taken.  He's growing up too fast!

Did That Really Just Happen?

I love those emails I keep getting of all the crazy people in Walmart; they always make me laugh. Well, today I could have been in one.  The kids and I went to do a little grocery shopping this afternoon and that's when it happened.  I'm strolling along shopping for produce and Reese starts throwing up all over herself.  Wow... totally not prepared for that.  I grabbed a diaper out of my bag (the first thing I could think of) and held it under her.  Okay, so Pamper's Baby Dry totally lived up to its name today.  Poor Reese was still covered in it and I had it all over my hands too.  I got us out of the grocery section so we wouldn't gross everyone out and then stripped Reese down to her diaper in true Walmart fashion.  The walk from the front of the store back to the clothing section was totally mortifying... I was instantly that woman who brought her child to Walmart in nothing but a diaper. So embarrassing.  At least I was able to grab a dress off the rack and cover the poor girl up pretty quickly.  But if you see me in the Walmart emails... at least you'll know why!

This was the first "throw up" experience we've had and I was definitely not prepared. Poor Reese has a bug or something ... this is how she spent a good part of the evening.

Do These Come in Pink?

I mentioned a few weeks ago that Tucker is obsessed with riding the 4-wheelers.  Well, he got a new toy this week and he was EXCITED.

It will be a while before he's big enough to ride it alone, but it's powerful enough that Chris and I can take him for rides until then.

Reese has steered clear of the 4-wheeler up until now... saying NO every time someone offered to take her for a ride.  I made her face her fears this week and hop on with me after work one day, and after about 2 seconds she was hooked.  I'm sure it was comical watching me ride around the yard on this 4-wheeler in my pencil skirt. There will be no pictures posted of that.

Could they be any cuter? Seriously.

Anyway... now she wants to ride just as much as Tucker. "My turn. My turn." That's what we heard all night long.  We may have to invest in a pink one.
