Summer Nights

Summer is winding down.  As much as I hate having to be back at work, I'm not going to miss the heat one bit!  Despite the heat, we spent a lot of summer nights outdoors this year.  Most of them looked a little something like this:

A little bit of catch...
A little bit of the Ranger and Four-Wheeler...

A little bit of our new favorite game "Corn Hole".

And a lot of just being silly and being together...

I had to throw in this random picture of Reese... I'm not sure her hatchet and heels go together?  She's so funny.

We're looking forward to more relaxing evenings at Grandma and Grandpa's this fall.

Smarty Pants

Reese is a sponge.  Oh, and a parrot too.  We have to really watch what we say around this girl... b/c she repeats everything and remembers it the next day.  She loves to learn and will sit and work puzzles, etc. for hours.  I think she's going to be the nerd in the family. Here's little miss smarty pants showing off for her daddy.

You'll have to ignore Tucker throwing a fit in the background b/c he wants to go on a ride on the the 4 wheeler.  That's a true picture of how different they are... Reese doing puzzles and being all studious and Tucker wanting to go outside to play.

Weirdness

It's been a weird couple days. Crazy, random things keep happening in the Tims' house.  Unfortunately, I haven't gotten any of them on camera but they're definitely worth writing down...

These things have all happened within the last few days...

1.  Tucker went to the bathroom in the potty like a big boy.
2.  Reese got stung by a bee. And hardly even cried.
3. Tucker got up in the wee hours of the morning and covered himself and his bedroom in Vaseline.  This event is really worth a whole post... but I don't have the energy b/c it took me 3 hours to clean up the mess.  Not to mention that he did this to me on the first day of school.  He's turning rotten and I obviously hadn't child-proofed his room enough.
4. Chris went grocery shopping, started the atkins' diet and sent me flowers at school.  Who is this guy?
5. I got a ticket in the mail for running a red light.  It wasn't me... despite what the picture showed.
6. Tucker threw up in his car seat.  Do you realize how hard it is to get those covers off to wash them?

All that and I still made it through my first day as a principal.  It's gonna be a crazy week!

The Bars Came Off

Tucker is a climber and always has been.  He likes to climb up on the arm of the sofa and jump off. He likes to climb on his rocking horse, stand up really tall, and say "TaDah".  He likes to climb on the changing table and look at himself in the mirror.  I really can't believe we haven't had to make a trip to the ER yet.  He climbed out of his crib a couple times when he was 18 months old, but we were able to convince him to stop.  At least for a while.  This weekend he started climbing out again and there was no stopping him this time.  So, the bars came off. His crib converts to a toddler bed and now he thinks he can get up at crazy hours in the night and come wake us up.  It's like having a newborn all over again.  Help us.  He's great about going to bed... he doesn't get up and try to fight us about bedtime.  But he's torturing us by getting up at 3:00 in the morning just to say "Hi Mommy".  He's the happiest person I've ever seen at 3 in the morning.  We're trying to things to keep him from getting up. No, we're not tying him up... at least not yet.

He and Reese had a blast playing on his new bed.  Poor Reese was sad that she had to get back in her regular old bed.  There is no way I'm letting that girl out until I absolutely have to.

Pray that this boy lets us sleep all night tonight.

Scrap Crack

A couple times a year I get together with friends for a weekend of scrapbooking.  I know it sounds crazy... nothing but scrapbooking for four days.  The men say we must be on scrap crack.  It's wonderful... 4 days of scrappin', eatin', talkin', watchin' chick flicks, etc.  We stop to shower and that's about it.   These little retreats are pretty much the only time I get to scrap anymore. So I'm always excited to go.

This summer we went to a new place, Memory Lane Inn, and were in scrapbook heaven.  It was a quaint little country house, complete with porch and goats.  Oh, and a private chef.  LOVED it.

We scrapped until 3 in the morning each day and got so much done.  Here's a peek at what I worked on all weekend.

I did several more but already put them in their books so you'll have to come over to see the rest. Reese and Tucker better really love these books when they grow up.  They have no idea how many hours go into each layout.  It's ridiculous.

Chris took the kids on a little road trip while I was gone.  Thanks for letting me get a way and have a much-needed break right before going back to work!  Love you!

Grand Camp 2010

The kids spent last week in Houston with their grandparents.  It was hopefully the first of many "Grand Camps" to come.  They had a blast and got to spend some quality time with Grammy, Grandpa and their cousins.

They swam, played in the sprinkler, had Popsicles... anything to stay cool in the Houston heat.

They went to a petting zoo. And yes, that's Reese feeding the animals.  I'm not sure what's happened to this girl but she's talking to strangers, jumping into the pool at my parents, and all kinds of crazy things.  I guess Tucker is rubbing off on her.

They played with their cousins.  They don't get to see them very much so it was great that they had this week to play and get into all sorts of trouble.

And they went to Kaylie and Drew's 3rd birthday party.  Cake, ice cream, swimming, swinging, bubbles, and a pinata.  They so much fun.

Thanks Grammy and Grandpa.  Grand camp was a blast this year!!

Apple of My Eye

Grandma and Grandpa have an apple tree that the kids have been eying all summer long.  Grandpa said he'd call when they were ready to be picked and he finally did.  Reese and Tucker couldn't wait to get their hands on those juicy green apples.

Tucker enjoyed these two apples and a couple more.  Reese had fun sorting, counting and taking hers in and out of the bag.

We came home with a huge bag of yummy apples.  I guess I'll have to break down and make an apple pie.  Good one.  Me... bake something from scratch?. Yeah right.
